    Re: Fi problem

Two weeks and a fair few rides since pulse generator fitted. FI/HISS problem has not occurred in this time. I would say it is cured. Therefore pulse generator rather than ECU, HISS antenae or fuel pump relay was the answer on my XL1000V8. I always viewed this as a tangible and visible problem, that would be fixed eventually, so did not get too stressed about it. The bike is running superbly, the fueling of this bike is the best of any fuel injected bike I have had. My last bike was a DL1000K3, It was a good bike and a bit lighter than the Varadero, but the fueling was never right in in 45k miles I had it. Tried everything, remapping with Yosh box, Power Commander and Timing retard eliminator. Nothing really worked and it was never happy at around 3K revs. This sort of thing is often not really fixable and not seen as a problem by the manufacturer, so you just have to live with it. So the Strom went, got the Varadero at a bargain price and have never regreted it. More suspension mods planned for this winter!

I mounted my nautilus in the right side of the belly pan, seems to be ok, well, sometimes,,, then sometimes sounds like a constipated duck? Might be water? I'm not sure!
Loud when working fine, mostly, just occasionally I toot at someone and there's just a strangled squeak!

    Re: Fi problem

phoned the dealer today and they are aware of the issue and it seems to affect CBF1000, CBR600 as well as the Varadero 1000. He says that unless the FI light flashes then the bike hasn't detected a fault so there's no merit in bringing it into the workshop to hook it up to the diagnostic computer. As I said, it's happened 5 times in 9000 miles and hasn't been a show stopper so I'll run with it and keep enjoying it unless lights begin to flash!

    Re: Fi problem

My opinion is that the pulse generator has cured the HISS/FI starting problem on my bike. Have not had the issue at all since fitting and that was about six weeks ago with plenty rides in that period. On the post before last with the dealer talking about fault codes and sounding a little less than helpful. There is not a fault code associated with the pulse generator, so plug in diagnostic tools will not pick up the problem. Try making a video when it happens and show to dealer. Fault is intermittent and unlikely to present itself on cue at the dealers, and they like to see a problem for themselves.

    Re: Fi problem

A friend of mine has had a similar issue with his 2008 Varadero here in Canada...it appears to be a fuel pump problem with his. Let’s hope the new warranty part will resolve the issue for him
