I can vouch for the Leo Vinces - they were about £300, they sound great baffles in or out, they're about a quarter of what the originals weigh, and I've made no adjustments to anything: the FI sorts itself out.

Fitting was about an hour with a mechanically retarded mate (by his own admission), who nevertheless can lift heavy weights.
I managed to score a set of low milage LV's (not handbags ladies don't get excited ) together with a PC3. Your comment has me wondering if it's worth the bother fitting the PC3 at all. Did you have to let the FI ECU "relearn", start without throttle, let it idle till the fan cuts in then let it run for X mins - that kind of thing?

My mates just off to Thailand for the week (with GF ) so fitting should go pretty fast .

I'm not as technical as you mate, I just fired it up and rode it like I stole it!

I wouldn't bother with the PC, they're just another thing to go wrong. The local dealer tears them out and bins them if fitted to trade ins.

I've done around 100 miles with the bike now and not missed a beat, pulls sweet as a nut to the limiter (tested yesterday).

I'll look into this re-learn business this week and see if there's something I need to be looking at! Cheers mate, you never know!

That was what was going through my mind too, though if I were to be strict about that philosify I wouldn't have fitted half the gadgets I have

Be interested to hear what you can glean about the relearn, I was more or less quoting the Triumph ECU relearn as I think it's a Keihin make also.

Nope, no relearning routine - I'd never heard of it in relation to the Honda ECU, so I did exactly what AfricaJim did, although I probably thought of it as "a full test across all gears and rev ranges"...

Never bothered with PC fitting, not even when I had my Turbos - and their ECUs were designed when a PCB itself was extremely high tech. And Wham were Number One... Another complication and, as AJ has also pointed out, another thing to go wrong...

    Re: Varadero Exhausts

Freerangestormer mate, the Triumph had a Sagem ECU, I remember thinking I wouldn't have a Sagem mobile phone, they're straight out of a lucky bag! The "relearning" bit I know of was if the warning light came on three runs up to temp "heat cycles" would put the light out if no fault found. The race can on the Tiger made a huge hole in the middle of the rev range, the only cure was to remap the ECU

No such issues with the mighty Varadero, fit cans and cane it! No holes, no misses, runs fine!

The PC would come into its own if you did away with the lambda sensor, you could then eek a bit more power out of the motor. Unfortunately I've seen a lot of issues delelope with PC's so I'd prefer to utilize the technology Honda paid millions to develope and get the optimum performance out of the bike rather than push it for maximum performance.

    P.S.
Leo Vinces???? Flash git I could only afford Motad venoms!

Cheers Muzz, good to hear the bike should be fine without carrying out some voodoo "white man's magic" on it!

    P.P.S.
Oh, you'll be glad to hear the bike lifts the front wheel off the throttle in 1st and a dip in the road sent it skyward in 3rd gear! More than enough power for me!

Triumph used a modified Sagem ECU for the 885i & 955i Girlies but the 1050 is a different make, without checking I think it's Kehien. I remember both Sagem Mobiles and Wham, both send a shiver of horror down my spine

Changed them out last night and went for a quick blast. just on the sounds alone, note to self, dig out mic and digi recorder. Possibly a bit more shift 100 - 160 kph range in 3rd and 4th (no side boxes and I hadn't had my tea yet either ), lot more crackling & popping on over run.

Something I have had on my list to do for a while is the rocker box breather mod which I am told makes a lot of difference to both power and economy and I am also tempted to have the injectors "overhauled" (ultrasonically cleaned & volume matched, I have had this done on one of my Rangie V8's and it made a huge difference.

Dynojet time here is not tremendously expensive so I might just do a before and after run out of interest.

Jim - Flash is not something I am often accused of. I was lucky with one of the guys selling his 05 back to the dealer, I scored the LV's, PC3, RH fairing panel, H&B centre stand, a few other bits and bobs and a fuel pump with under 1500 km on it (mine was starting to whine noticably, sure sign of impending legs in the air) all for a very reasonable sum, so I didn't let the side down , I was being careful and not spending it all in the one shop .

And some people describe the Vara as "lardy" !

I wouldn't want to be accused of doing a Gordon Ramsay, the old girl would benefit from having a few less scones but she can still pick up her skirts and go when some cheesecake is dangled in front of her might not be the prettiest sight but it gets the job done
