    Impressive!

    makes it look really simple!

I might try to replace my rear pads now this evening... Even if I take 20-30x as long I'll still be happy

    But first, off to Rykas...

That's a recipe for disaster. He didn't bother to clean the caliper pistons before levering them back in. That's a sure way to gum up the seals!

Agreed. It's a perfect opportunity to clean and check the caliper, pistons and sliders. And levering against the disc?

agree with both points, but it looks like a brand new bike to me, and doesnt need cleaning, and IF hes taken off the res cap then it doesnt take much force to push back the pistons, so hes probably ok. even then, its easier to push the whole caliper in and out than one piston at a time, using a screwdriver as a lever is not good practice.

BUT- is it me, or am i seeling things? carefully pause at 1.01 and im sure you can see white dots on the pad he puts on the inside, ie hes put the old outer pad on the inside back to front?

is the retaining spring properly seated?? too much of a rush job for my liking. brakes.........always take your time with them and make doubly sure everything is right. bit late when you pull lever / push pedal and nowt happens !!

Agree with the above. However, it's nice to know that it's basically a simple job, without all the springs and clips and rods and split pins from days of yore.

You're right. That's a heat shield going against the disc.

the fronts aren't much different either.

Alan, how would you push the pistons back in to avoid scraping crap against the seal? I agree with screwdriver against the disk thing - I would have just pushed the whole caliper with the old pads in place, then set about changing them.
