Yup, I changed to Hagon progressives just after changing to a Hagon rear assy.
Can't be 100% objective as I changed the headstock bearings, wheel bearings and tyres at the same time. Best I can say is that the ride is uncompromised and there is much less dive and more control under braking. I had the workshop do it as well as clean and check the valves and renew all the seals so I can't tell you about any difficulties but I can't see it being rocket science, used the Hagon oil supplied with the springs. I hate half doing jobs.![]()
Question.... are 2003+ Varadero XL1000 front springs linear as standard ? and the trend is to change to progressive. For the people who have swapped (irrespective of weight of fork oil) ....What the difference in "Feel" ?
Linear - Yes, I was told so by Hagon.
Feel - Springs will only affect the relationship between load forces on the forks from either the road or the rider input and the relative height of the front end to the road, so see above. "feel" is more related the damping which is not adjustable for us other than by altering the oil grade and air gap unless you want to get exotic. My personal, admittedly limited, experinece is that with everything else "right" and hence eliminated as an issue, the tyre choice made the most noticeable difference in "feel" of the steering feedback. 2p
