Having voted 'other' in the poll I suppose I should add that for the past couple of tyre changes I've used Distanzias (Avon I think) These give good grip on wet or dry tarmac and excellent mileage (10k miles for a rear, more for front) Only problem has been with the fronts showing crack around the tread blocks after high miles.

There is a fine line between numerator and denominator.

Pirelli scorpians are good too, reasonably priced too.
Tyres are a personal thing. What some advise, others wouldn't touch.
However, overall opinion seems to be that the tourance is crap.
This is a bit harsh because although they don't perform like a sports tyre, in my experience they do give good trouble free mileage, benefiting from a quite hard rubber compound. The back tyre seems to flat out soon after some motorway miles though. Just don't expect to be getting your knee down if the roads slightly damp, or even dry for that matter.
Personally, I'm running Conti Trail Attacks and I think they are the best tyre I've tried yet. I'll definitely be fitting the same again next time.
Thing is, All the quality tyres are good. Just good in different ways and there isn't a tyre out there yet that will suit everyones riding style.
you've just got to experiment till you find what you're looking for. Trouble is tyres are damned expensive things to experiment with.
i just put a metzeler tourance on the back of my vara - feels ace!
leans nicely, corners nicely and is good in a straight line!
only think is that a week after fitting it - my cam chain tensioners gave up the ghost!
soooooo - great tyre but they bugger up your bike!

Just proved my point.
Get three Motorcyclists with the same bike, ask them which is the best tyre for theirs and you'll get three different answers.

I liked the Tourances (regular, not the EXP), but find that they make the bike go a bit skittish in tracks on the road, or on the black strips where they fixed the tarmac.
Fitted a Continental TrailAttack to the front, massive difference. Feels more planted in corners now...
Make that 4 different opinions about the Tourance
