same old same old- rusty exhaust clamp

ive just had my 8k service and while bertha was in bits i asked them to investigate a slight popping and grumble on the overrun shes developed over the last 1000mi. (wont call it a misfire as it didnt have time to get that bad)
ive just been on a southern spain trek where she was thoroughly spanked on lots of hot dusty hill twisties, so i suspected a blocked air filter or burned out plugs, i couldnt find an exhaust leak.
anyway, turns out it was an exhaust leak, the gasket under that bottom clamp by the right footpeg was shot. the usual suspect, that clamp is always being complained about on here, so my point is-
had the gasket and clamp replaced under warranty and the new clamp is either stainless or chromed, stands out like a sore thumb! so honda might be listening to us after all and changed the old rustoleum one for a better design.......

Re: same old same old- rusty exhaust clamp

hmmm, I replaced both my clamps last week with some stainless one's i had lying around. Never thought to take the silencer off and replacing the seal. That's probably the cause of my overrun popping.....but it is a rather pleasant noise.

When I read about the spit backs here < Fi problem > I wondered if you had a leaking gasket. Definitely something to sort out.

Lets hope that Honda has indeed developed a better clamp. A system that didn't wear out its gaskets would be even better!
