    Dry lube

I mentioned in work that I had ordered the new esystem oiler as I am fed up with the lube ending up on the wheel. Some mentioned that they use dry lube.

I looked at their bike chains and they look like there is no lube on them. They say that they do have it on but have to respray after rain and every 300 miles or so.

I had thought of this as an interim while I wait for the scotoiler but has anyone any experience of the dry lube good/bad or give a wide berth.

    Cheers.

    Re: Dry lube

It's effective and used quite a lot by off-roaders as it's non-sticky and doesn't collect so much dirt. Costs a bit more than conventional chain lube.

Can't beat a correctly set up Scottoiler though....

Used Wurth dry chain lube for a few years, seems to do the trick just fine - isn't obvious where you've put it on, but haven't seen any ending up on the wheel either.

I use it, the Wurth stuff. I have had it on the back wheel, the cans and it has made a right mess of the rear sprocket many a time. Personally I prefer the Ipone coloured stuff as the chain at least looks lubed and I can judge when to re-apply. With the Wurth I have to set the trip meter as a guide.

My biggest gripe with the Wurth is that I could never really judge how much I had put on. I am sure I waste loads.

In fact, Honda shaft drive is my next want in life!
