    varadero dyno-jet kit

has anyone put a dyno-jet stage 1 kit on a varadero1000 carb version?

and anybody know the effectiveness of it and is it worth it? i think it could be a good mod to increase the throttle pick up and add a slight bit of power

    any thoughts let me know...............

    cheers
    everything is OK

Try ringing Steve at Motrac (Ellesmere Port) - they do a lot of race bikes for the Isle of Man. I had bikes done by him in the past and his work is excellent

He'll tell you if it's worth it and what the effects might be

I've never fitted one but I've removed quite a few from Yamaha's over the yrs! First question asked if a bike came in running like a bag of spanners was "has it been dyno-jetted?" If so a new set of OEM jets and needles were ordered.
My opinion, and I stress, only my opinion, but Mr Honda spent millions setting up my bike for optimum performance not maximum and that suits me just fine. The beauty of these bikes are thousands of trouble free miles due to the engine not being overstressed, Honda= push button- enjoy! Tamper with it at your peril. If you like to tamper buy something to tamper with, not your pride and joy! I'm sure others feel differently but that's my opinion and as ever, like ar*eholes, everyone has one, this just happens to be mine!

I agree with that 100% but my mate put a Stage 1 Dynojet kit on his TDM850 years ago and fueling got smoother and it went upto over 50mpg

    Re: varadero dyno-jet kit

I put one on a VTR1000 and it gave much improved throttle response - which is what I fitted it for. As a downside, fuel consumption wasn't exactly brilliant when keeping up with ZX9-Rs and was even worse with the DynoJet kit fitted but I was happy with the overall result.

It may be a good alternative to book some time on a dyno at a tuning shop and get them to set up the carbs to suit whatever exhaust you are using. Throttle response can often be improved by drilling the slides so they open quicker. This may need the needles shimming too.

    Re: varadero dyno-jet kit

I put a dyna-jet on my VFR750 ( 2 bikes ago, vfr -> pan euro-> Varadero)and the throttle response was better, a bit more grunt, the fuel economy was improved as well, got an extra 30 miles out of the tank, mind you I did get the carbs balanced and sparkies replaced at the same time, I'm thinking about getting a dynakit for my vara as well. I recently had the fuel pump replaced but the engines still a bit 'spotty' , i.e it feels as if it wants to jump and then it'll pop, then back to normal, then pop, jump, pop, repeated when maintaining speed, accelerating is fine though.

    Re: varadero dyno-jet kit

Fitted a dynojet kit on mine.
    Has Firestorm carbs. & cams
    Dynoed at 98BHP before fitting
    Dynoed at 98BHP after fitting
    So no power improvement.
Power & torque curves were much improved though. Maximum torque came in earlier and stayed level. power just kept climbing and the fuel mixture was even.
Felt better afterwards, smoother, torquier and the like. But the carbs had been out of balance, so that may have been a problem.
Uses more juice now. But the Vara carbs are much smaller so fitting a kit may well improve bottom end grunt without suffering as much ecomony loss.
The jets aren't much bigger but the needles have a completely different taper.
Don't bother with a K&N filter though because the standard filter's the same as the Firestorm. It flows more than enough air and retains a healthy vacuum in the air box so the slides can operate properly.
Don't be tempted to modify the airbox by drilling extra holes unless you know what you're doing because you'll end up causing turbulence. The carbs don't like it and you end up worse than when you started (voice of experience).
Definately worth booking dyno time in between mods. To gain experience of what works what does'nt and why.
