    Question on wheels

    Hi folks,

not usually in here, normally on the Transalp bit, but need specific advice...

Does the rear wheel from the '03 1000cc Vara use the same cush drive system as the '08 Vara....

    Cheers..

    Re: Question on wheels

no idea, i would say they were probably the same but there are differences in the gearing, being a 5 speed and 6 speed so who knows what else they changed while they were at it?
i will look in my haynes manual, i have the latest one so there may possibly be pics of any differences

Cheers Dave...whilst you are looking, could you please tell me another thing....

Please could you measure the opening between each leg on the swing arm... Basically because what I'm looking at doing is putting Vara wheels onto my Transalp, and last point I need to clarify is that the 4" wheel will fit on my swing arm.

    Thanks..

    Re: Question on wheels

there is no pic in the haynes manual of different cush drives, just the one.

the gap in the swingarm is 9.625", the gap between the wheel rim and swingarm is 2.125" equal both sides, (thats obviously the outside of the rim, not the inside you use for tyre sizing)

Purely from a visual point of view there is no difference in the Varadero wheels
    I have had 01, 03, 05 and 08 bikes.
They all look the same to me and all use the same looking cush drive.
There may be differences which do not stand out on a visual check.
    Hope this helps.

ah yeah that reminds me, the haynes manual did say the changes in 07 were revised throttle bodies and "a host of styling changes", nothing mechanical

    Re: Question on wheels

Dont suppose anyone can confirm the tyre sizes for me, for the rear wheel off the big Vara, and the front wheel off the Baby Vara.

    Cheers

    Re: Question on wheels

    Last bit hopefully,

Can anyone confirm what the brake disk sizes are for both the 125 & 1000cc Varas... by size I mean the diameter, although this may be obvious I thought i'd just say it...

    Thanks
