    Hi folks...

I'm Mark from Banbury in Oxfordshire and just thought I would introduce myself as I will be the proud owner of a new XL 1000 early Jan 2010...

Lots to ask and do but my first question is .....I had a varadero about 2005/2006 and just wanted to no if I can expect a difference in performance and handling e.t.c

I no the latest models have ABS and fuel injection but wondered if any of you out there have had an older model and a latter one who can let me no what to expect?

The one thing I remember more then anything of the Varadero was the pure comfort an enjoyable riding position...

    Look foward to your replies...

Hi and welcome to the forum. Not a lot has really changed. You get a few more MPG with the newer bike but by and large it's still the great bike it always was.

    Welcome to the forum.
I hope you have many hours of happiness with your new bike, don't forget to post pictures when you get it.

Just a word of warning, make sure you get the latest colour scheme, my stealer tried to sell me last years colours with no discount, not really that much of an issue now, but I'm sure the stealers would use that same "Last Years Colour scheme" come part exchange time and knock money off.
Are they still offering free colour matched Givi Luggage?

    Red face Re: New Member

No chance of anything like that im afraid...To be quiet honest im lucky to get finance on the bike as I owe a futune due to the fact I keep changing to often ....Got to keep this baby for two or three years at least..

Honda now, the tight bastards don't even offer a free 1st service...

Im having a rear hugger fitted along with a front fender extender and a top plate to accomadate my old givi box (Still in good condition though)

    welcome to the fold mate

blimey, dont pay a dealer to fit a givi plate, get one for a fiver on fleabay and put it on your self! depending what plate you get its either two bolts or six and the luggage rack is predrilled for it. although honda have put it too far forward unless your pillion is a dwarf

    Thumbs up Re: New Member

Sorry for late reply lads ...

Yea, the dealer is fitting all the bits and bobs for me...Hugger, front fender extender & top plate...(All in the deal)...

Im getting the bike from the Blade group Honda at Abingdon...Used them before with no probs but thinking of changing it for a bloody quad bike with this crap weather at the moment..

I would like to no if anyone has the soft lugguage panniers fitted to the XL 1000...what ever make, and even better a pic or two if possible!

    Cheers

I fitted my Frank Thomas Endurance throw-overs onto my Vara the day after I bought it . . .

. . . . and then did a short ride round the Highlands after a 500+ mile ride home the night before.
They hung off the rear seat OK. I just put gaffer tape onto the side panels to help stop any excessive scratching.
