I bought soom Motech bars for me Vara and tried to fit them today,Tried being the corect word
The top fitting point is tight up against the rad and the damn alan bolt would not shift, the only way I could have fitted them would be to remove the radiators and use an impact wrench and as I was doing the work on my drive and the day was drawing in I bolted it all back together and called it a day.
Why did'nt honda think of these sort of bolt-ons while making the frame as there seems to be no other place to bolt crashbars on.
Me thinks ....................welder is comming out and weld the buggers on but that just might be tooooooo drastic
not just honda, but all makes should employ someone to say "hey, this is an adventure bike so lets make some adventure style accessories for it" all they have to do is go to bike meets and see what punters are bolting to their bikes.
but no, they only ever do the same stuff across all models like a u-bolt gps holder that spins round the bars when you go over a bump, or a single power socket that they put inside the doodad box etc. they managed to think up a skateboard holder for the zoomer, so why not zega style panniers on the XRV range? they are getting more and more out of touch, like an 18ltr tank on the new flagship sports"tourer" VFR.
mind you, if honda did do decent crash bars for the vara can you imagine what they would cost?
yes, you can tell the Yen is doing alright but do the japs expect us to pay? dumb question, there's always people who will pay whatever the price, thats why most things are ridiculous prices.
even the varadero is £8900 list price from when i bought mine, and its a 11yr old model now isnt it?
