hi all newbie here is there a wider and high screen for a 59 1000 vara .

Scoose my hig'norance but is a 59 plate 2009
if so there are a few options for higher but not much in the wider dept
I have the MRA screen not perfect but an improvement, but like nearly everything it depends on your own size, riding position, pillion, topbox or not and pocket to try and find the one that suits you
Madsted have made a great bracket for the VStrom and a universal bracket for the Dero that gives more adjustment to the screen tilt and rise, If I could justify the price I would have one.
There is also a Brit engineer looking at making one but needs a bike to measure so dont know how far he is with manufacture.

If you phone a screen manufacturer that already makes a screen for the Dero and ask nicely, they'll probably make one up to your specification, e.g. 75 mm taller and 50 mm wider. Powerbronze made a small one to my spec for the standard price.

I do't know about the hight difference but the flip does help move the air over you instead of at you.

I initially bought an MRA screen but found it was worthless. I then bought a GIVI screen and fitted the MRA spoiler on it. The improvement is considerable but expensive.

On the subject of screens. I emailed Robobrakets in the US. They make a braket for the front screen that slides up, down, tilts and can be adjsted side to side. They intend making one specifically for the vara available in Jan 2010. It will fit the same fittings as the vara has at present and uses the original screen.

No prices available as yet but they promised to get in touch when they are available.

Those Robobrackets look interesting but I cant help thinking I could make something similar in a couple of hours with some angle I have in the garage... I might have to have a play with the idea at some point

I did just that
I gave up in the end the screen was too far away from the fairing and looked daft
I now just have the 2 slides mounted and have gained more movement without the tilt

I started out by making my own form of bracket
It kept me happy for a few days solving mounting problems and I got the bracket working (sort of)
I was not happy with the distance between the original mounting and the screen with the fully movable bracket.
It looked crap so I scrapped the lot and mounted the slides together I have the Migsel mount so that helped a bit keeping everything parellel the rest hopefully you can see in the pictures
I've not got round to testing it yet so no results just a few pics
