How does the feed from to the front brake switch lead attach? Do you have to splice in the wire, or scotchlock it, or is there a dedicated fitting?
With the Honda ones there is a T peice of wire with two female spades and one male.
Do the oxford ones not come with directions as to how or what to wire them to.

Well, the Oxford grips come with fittings to fit it direct to the battery. So, its the easiest option, but with the chance of leaving them switched on as they are obviously live all the time.

The newer push button controller is supposed to protect the battery by switching off automatically when sensing the drop in voltage when the engine is not running but I wouldn't trust it. For what its worth I fed them from the fan supply as not only is it switched, but it's switched of a separate set of contacts on the ignition barrel from everything else.

it was as much about neater installation and minimising mess on the bars as anything else but I didn't fancy unnecessarily bunging another 36 watts (3 amps) through a brake circuit that was designed for 21 watts (less than 2 amps)

The Oxford grips must run at a much higher ampage than Honda's own one.
The fan supply may be the best option.
Unless you include a cut off switch in your powerline from the battery
But you then have the problems of hiding it and also remembering to turn it off.
Back to the fan option then.

Not difficult to do when i fitted mine some years ago i wired them direct to battery and hid an inline switch for them and to remind me they were on i wired a high out put led to one of the grip heater cables and placed the led wright above the ignition barrel. Didn't matter what time of day it was or what season the led was bright and could always be seen

    Re: Black and Blue!

Fitting an inline switch seems a good idea, might go down that line. I'm a bit wary of splicing into the original loom. Suggestions on where to fit a switch? And keep it clean!!
