    Tank vent hoses

    Hi all,

First time twirling the spanners on my V8 a few days ago to replace the air filter with a K&N and chase a niggling leccy fault (fan kept blowing the 20A fuse), I came to reinstall the tank and found a 'spare' vent hose

It tees into the thin tank vent hose half way down it's run to the bellypan and just appears to vent to atmosphere too. A quick look on the parts fiche shows no connection to anywhere either.

So, as a new Varadero owner... is yours like this too?

    Cheers.

Just a guess, not a definitive answer: A problem that can crop up is that the breather can become blocked and the pump is so strong it can literally cause the tank to collapse. I wonder if the two vents are designed to reduce the likelihood of this?

It maybe to reduce the chance of a blockage.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

It's my thinking too that it's belt and braces.

On all my enduro race bikes I used to tee the carb vents off and run an extra set into the airbox, in case the bottom ones got clogged with mud / water.

I just found it strange of Honda to leave it just flopping about with no nice clamp, filter, fitting or wotnot. Has someone from Suzuki been helping them design stuff?
