Honda VARADERO XL1000 XL 1000 on eBay (end time 14-Jul-10 10:13:32 BST)
I thought the clocks on a FI bike were all enclosed in a dashboard?
1000 per year? Looks nice though.
cheers

Where does it say its FI on the ad?
Its the 5 gear, non ABS model, carb. They changed late 2003 (I think)
You are right. It's a mark 1 which as you correctly state has a 5 speed box.

Horrid colour scheme IMO, but one heck of a lot of bike for the money. If it was Blue, I would be on the phone in the morning...
Does the new seat lower the position a bit?

From the Honda Varadero web site;
"For 2003 the Varadero received some major changes. These included the move to fuel injection and the addition of a 6 speed gearbox and a new dashboard. These changes benefited the model with better torque and fuel consumption."
So is the dashboard indicating it is the 5 speed version.![]()

yes it does but thats def a 5 speed carb model, you can tell by the different screen style and the black plastic front indicators. from '03 they have different front bodywork, lose the 2 tone paint, gain an extra gear and Fi.
it could still be a '03 or even '04 reg, thats just the year it was registered. its the model designation that tells you what it is, eg mine is a XL1000VA6 which means 2006 with ABS, the first Fi's would be V3.
it might not be that the dealer is pulling a fast one, they might not even know theres a difference or they might have put on one of ebays famously inaccurate generic library descriptions
I agree with Davsato. The carbodero has a different-shaped fairing from the injectadero. So this one has the old five-speed box and is probably a V2 but registered in 2003. (it happens. Mine's a Va4 registered in 2005.)

How many times have we seen adverts like this with inaccurate information.
It is up to the buyer to ensure they are getting what they think.
That's my old bike....PX at Chester Superbikes 2 weeks ago for an 09 Vara. it was a good bike for me and I has 7000 genuine miles. It has had a new rear tyre, a gelpad custom seat, a custom screen and passed it's MOT a few weeks before I got rid of it.
I took the hugger of and left it with no chainguard...!!
If you are thinking of buying it I would carefully check the rear suspension cos I was just about to replace the rear shock due to spring sag. Cranking up the preload made very little difference and the bike sat very low and was really difficult to get on the centre stand.
Apart from the rear shock issue it never ever let me down!!
