    Re: Vara ??????????????????

There is HISS on the later models, mine is an 05 6 spd and gives around 200 miles per tank. Hiss saved my bike from being nicked a few months ago. Was advised that if I needed new keys and the HISS Sender (the bit that surrounds where you put your key in) it would have been 400 notes so that makes it about 70 quid a key with the chip programed for that particular unit.

I would ( Strongly )suggest crash bars cos when dropped as I did when it was cold and icy it cost me 120 for a paint job on the offside and about 20 for a new Vara sticker.

Wouldnt change mine for anything, completely happy with it. Last bike was a GSX 600 and I wouldnt go back.
Rock solid, the missus loves being on the back with the top box to lean on and you can get all your kit in the panniers if you fit them.

Great bike, shame its now not being made anymore.
Cant wait to get home in 4 weeks and jump on

    Re: Vara ??????????????????

mine is a 07 and the hiss seems to be giving me some grief...FI light stays on aat times and bike wont start....checked with the mechanic and he thinks it might be the aerial that reads the key....there is a whole debate posetd on the forum somewhere esle about this.

Re speedo in KMH or MPH I agree with comments above I am sure that the inner gray digits are kmph and the odo is in miles. I presonally never heard of a bike 50/50 it's either KM or miles...stand to be correct on this tho...I am usually wrong if you ask my wife...

Yup, the aerial in the key surround on mine failed causing the symptoms you described. It quickly deteriorated to the point the bike was unrideable. Cost a packet to fix but at least it's a secure system.

    Re: Vara ??????????????????

I removed the Givi screen off my first Vara, yes found a bit of buffet but most annoying was the edge of the screen caught my eye when cornering and put off my judgement.
I fitted a standard screen and never looked back.
