search the varadero threads, there is someone on here doing a special adjustable bracket on ebay and offering a discount to XRV members. i dont know if anyones got one yet though, so no idea of whether its any good
I'm 6' (but used to be 6'1, not that I was trying to impress anyone.. Just getting older) and have a Skidmarx screen on my 99er. I'm pleased with it-a great improvement on standard screen but still experience some buffeting. This depends largely on bike speed and wind strength and direction (headwind/tailwind/crosswind(. With a tailwind its eerily quiet. Headwinds get a bit noisy but the buffeting is on the upper arms.
Watching raindrops while riding in the wet gives an insight into what the air is doing. Rain seems to wash down my visor and then, when it reaches the chin bar, shoots forward towards the back of the screen.
Don't spend too long watching them though![]()
In my experience the top flip up bit does not get in the way of vision and being adjustable you can set at a different poisition according to your height....agree with other comments on this thread tho that buffetting and turbulances also depend on streangth and direction of wind. You can seat behind a goldwing screen but if it is hard cross wind u still feel it a bit...good luck!
This may seem a little odd, but try dropping the screen to the lowest setting - I did it in Germany (with the help of young Boris). Found that noise was reduced, buffeting (crosswinds) was reduced, but have not yet tried it out in the rain. Higher screens tend to put quite a strain on the fairing - this could lead to cracking of the fairing.
I've always had my screen on lowest setting, probably coz I don't come from "land of the giants"! I've always found a higher screen too restrictive to my vision. Some times lower is better!
