    Back on a Varadero.

A year after selling my Varadero, (now being cared for by Italy1), I had a hankering for another and stumbled across my first one that I sold 3 years ago, now with 31,000 miles on with a full service history and a stack of bills to prove the only other owner looked after it well.

Just completed a 500 mile round trip to the south west this weekend to get used to it again and I have to say it rides really well, a credit to it's last owner and Honda build quality.

There is nothing out there at the moment to tempt me away, The Varadero is a great bike just sadly under-rated by too many.
Glad to have you back in the fold

Thanks guys it's good to have a Vara back in the garage, been having a proper good look around for anything nasty! So far so good apart from: Chain was a bit tighter than I would like, tyre pressures all over the place, reset the rear shock settings, ready for work tomorrow

I've just bought my first vara and I have to say it'd way better than my 1150GS was and my Vstrom for that matter. I ride every day now rain or shine and love every minute. I should have got one ages ago

    Re: Back on a Varadero.

Glad you're happy with the Varadero, I agree, they're a very under-rated bike. Honda are always slated for being "boringly reliable" ????? WTF is boring about being able to use your bike whenever you like, and not be let down? Pretty boring if you're looking at your bike in the shop needing repaired?
I've been over to Europe twice with my VA9 and all I've had to do is adjust the chain once in 14.000 miles! I've done the Stella Alpina on it and just under 50 miles of dirt tracks down in Galloway with no issues and the bike scrubs up a treat!
As a side note, Bridgestone Trialwings are good tyres, I've never had problems with them, the pegs touch down in the dry no probs with them, the OEM's on the Vara didn't last me long so I replaced them with Michelin Anakee 2's. (Although I'm running agricultural TKC80's at the moment!)
TKC's are a bit scary, once used to them the pegs will touch down but the front feels real vague! But damn, they look the part!

Four years ago I had an 1100GS which I loved, however I now have a Vara, and in all honesty I cannot really compare them due to it being four years ago, but have heard myself saying to others recently that the Vara is the best bike I ever owned....

And after six months being parked outside here on the west coast of Ireland can definitely say that the build quality is better than the BWM
