Very reluctantly I have decided that one must go. I'm a poor student this year and next but while I have little money, I get a huge Summer holiday. So I figure if I sell my older @, I get to tour Europe for 5 weeks and that's a good trade-off. After all, I have an @ so that I can go adventuring.
So I'd like an idea of what I ought to be expecting for my P reg red bike (1996 model, 1997 registered) and to see if there is any interest here. The bike just turned 66 today (thousand miles that is) and still goes and goes and still wants more. I use it pretty much every day for commuting (12 miles each way with a mix of town and country roads), I've toured France and Spain, been on Salisbury Plain a few times, and loved every minute of it. It's nicely accessorised as seen below in my sig. I've owned the bike since 27k miles and always done my own servicing. I started keeping a written record of maintenance at 36500 miles so I would know when the next oil change was due and how long bits lasted and so on. I've never been much of a one for keeping receipts I'm afraid as I honestly thought I'd keep this bike til it fell apart but there you go. The only thing that I haven't added to the list is that I have put on the rear wheel of of my black @ (30k miles) as the old rim was shot. The new wheel being built by SFX is going on the black bike when I get it back.

The paintwork is fine, no dings in the tank, only the left hand side panel (under seat) has a crack in it which is mostly covered by a sticker. I've dropped it a few times putting it onto the centre stand or playing about off road. I also came off on a bend last year and the bike slid a bit up the road though the only damage was scuffs to the engine bars and the disc I welded to the foot of the side stand now is not quite round any more.
It is slightly higher than standard as seen in the pic below. I had scarface hugo modify a link in the suspension to do this. Hugo is a professional bike builder and his work is first class and I have also had the same done to my black bike because I was so pleased with it. The new fork springs that I fitted lifted the front up a bit too compared to how it was before so that evened it out. I am 5'11 and a half and it fits me perfectly.

My signature picture is probably the most up to date that I have of it. I will take some more tomorrow and put them in my photo gallery on the site. Feel free to browse my gallery and ask any questions. It currently has TKC's on it though my black bike has Pirelli Scorpions and I am quite happy to swap them over if required. I have to keep it at least until I get my other wheel back from SFX as I cannot be without a bike. It's got a 46L Givi top box included aswell.
Most importantly, I had a look at the output shaft recently just out of interest and it is perfect. No play and the splines look like new. This is a great bike which I absolutely love to bits. It goes like stink and always puts a grin an my face every time I ride it. Good home needed............
