    1992 RD04 Africa Twin

Right then, after lots of umming & arrrring, I think (but not absolutely positive yet) itīs time for a change so my RD04 will probably be going up for sale.

Itīs a 1992 German model imported around 2002 with just under 20k on the clock. Although I have old MOTīs, etc. I canīt guarantee the mileage. Sheīs mechanically sound but cosmetically could do with a little firtling.

Iīve had her just under 2 years and have done the following:

    Air filter
    Spark plugs
    Front brake pads
    Rear brake pads
    Chain & sprockets
Heidenau K60 tyres front and rear (less than 600 miles ago)
Both wheels powdercoated rims and hubs with stainless spokes
    Fork gators
    Barkbusters hand guards
    HEL braided steel brake lines
    Romatech chainguard
Carbon Can Co end can with stainless steel link pipe
Homemade exhaust guard for the above (after burning a hole through my trousers!)
Homemade pannier racks to suit Givi/Kappa panniers
    Homemade extended aluminium rear rack

There is a small dent in the tank on the left hand side which has started to rust, and also some rust along the bottom edge of the tank.

Some rust along the bottom edge of the right hand side of the tank.

The previous owner started to jetwash the bike and blew a lump of paint off the mudguard (thankfully he didnīt carry on after that!).

The lugs on the left side main panel have broken off, so I made some brackets and itīs now held on with 2 screws instead of 1. Also the small plastic bit on top of the fairing panel is broken, although both parts are still fitted.

Thereīs some rust on the frame in the areas I canīt easily get at, and thereīs the usual corrosion to the clutch cover and cylinder heads, but nothing some paint and a little time wouldnīt fix. The gearbox output shaft though is fine. The panniers and top box (including mounting plate) would not be sold with the bike, but the pannier rails and rear rack would be.

The front discs will need replacing as you can feel them pulsating particularly when you brake hard. The bike is taxed until the end of September, but will have to check on the MOT (canīt remember if itīs due September, October or November).

So........... from all the above, what do you think would be a fair & reasonable asking price?

(edited to say that thereīs a couple of other pics in the album in my profile)

what you need is a change to classic red/white/ blue
we all get bored with the same machinery after a while and a change of
colour scheme makes a huge difference

I wonder who I know who has a complete set of plastics inc a petrol tank

Panels are all in these colours ( perhaps not quite as shiney !) and the petrol tank is certainly better even has a small dent in the same place as yours !
