Odd tyre valves

Having finally got well and truly pee'd off with the difficulty in getting a pressure reading from my rear tyre, I decided to change the valve.

The photo below shows the old tyre valve (on the left) and new one (on the right). Has anyone seen anything like the valve on the left??. I certainly haven't!



Anyway, new (shorter) valve in - getting tyre pressure now no problem. Job done.

They all used to be like that, (particularly in tubes.)

the left one is an old style valve, and the seat is slightly different for new style valves (on the right) so my tyre guy told me. hence the leaking.
