    No more punctures?

Now you can't believe everything you find on the net, but.....

This idea has been known in the trade for a while.

Think they'd feel a bit peculiar an a bike.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

    Re: No more punctures?

I saw this some time ago on another forum.

I have some reserves... I think they should fit walls anyway (if somebody punctures your tyre then you notice pretty quick, if somebody were to cut through half a dozen of them "flexible spokes" you wouldn't notice it 'till it broke up at high speed....but maybe i'm being pedantic?)

other problem, of a more human nature, "progress" creates another 400,000 job losses...no? (les tyres sold, no repairs done, less breakdown men needed, fewer compressors made & maintained, valve factories shut down, etc etc. I know you can't stop progress, but I'm in a negative mood this morning...

    Re: No more punctures?

Would be good on straight, bump free, smooth American roads. But what about British roads 4 inch Deep pot holes, parking your car in a puddle and it freezes. There are loads of questions which no doubt Michelin has had to think about, The tread band is just stuck in to the plastic rim, And we have all seen this type of bonding process on tyres strung all over the motor ways hard shoulders.
Better things need to be developed as our conventional tyres are a massive drain on our environment.

Personally I think it's an idea that's well overdue; though 10 to 15 years before they (pardon the pun) hit the road seems a hell of a long way off....

A very observent remark from someone outside of the tyre trade.

I currently pay £1.00 for every car tyre i "scrap" or submit for recycling.

Trade rumours suggest this could be £5.00 within the next two years, and then follow an upward spiral to whatever.

When i say i pay i mean the end user pays, that's you lot.

Something needs changing, don't know what though. Can't see this idea being it.

    Re: No more punctures?

there is a very simple reason they were dropped back in the 70's... a reason that i doubt however much money (and PR) companies like Michelin (and BFG in the states) chuck at it.

    These tyres fill with crap.

Great on the track on ya pimped beamer or chaved corsa but on the public roads the debris builds up inside and they get out of balence VERY quicly...they cant be used near mud, snow or in cold conditions because as someone pointed out they again go out of balence. In short bit of a dodo for a reason!
