    Tyres

HELP !! Am planning a blast down south of France to ride the Millau bridge. Just had the VFR serviced and all well except I need new rubber. Please, any suggestions? I have had Michelin Pilots on my CBF which I liked also have had Bridgestone recommended. Any ideas guys? Regards CLIVE in sunny Jersey.

If all you is doing is going there and back on the toll roads then get the cheapest rear you can - no matter what you get you are going to flat spot it and want rid when you get back.

Always loved the old BT020's on my old VFR, not sure what the current model is. BT45's are great for this kind of thing too.

I didnt used to do a lot of mileage on mine so didnt mind squaring off the bt020 as it was soo good when I got to the alps and then i used the rest of the sides on the tracks.

Cheers Farky, Thanks for the advice am still thinking. Have to say that toll roads will be avoided at all costs. Its the lovely A roads for me as they are usually empty. Regards CLIVE.

I had them on both my SV1000 and Varadero 1000 and they were a great tyre with plenty grip. They certainly lasted longer than sports rubber but did square off and were done around the 4000 mile mark. I'm currently running Michelin pilot roads which feel just as grippy and look like I will get around 2000 more miles than the contis.

Ride under going South and over on teh way back - the road up the southern hill is awesome!! Come off the D911 0n the way south before heading down to Millau or else the J45 on the way Nth off the E11 bridge.

Dont...and I mean DONT forget dropping into the Tarn Gorge - I found a craicin wee road at J43 - D995 to Le Massegros, drop into the Gorge to les Vignes down some craicin hairpins and an amazing view over the gorge...if you can tear your eyes off the road as it drops away below.

If you want another recommende road in the area - come off the gorge at the N106 after heading for Florac but turn left to Mende - this road goes up a hill, Col du Monmirat, twisty fun road but sometimes busy. N88 out of Mende is also a craicin road if your heading for Lyon. I done Albi to Chalon-sur-Saone in one day with a few hours round Millau and all A roads til the N88 turns into a motorway around St Etienne and Lyon.

ooohhhh memories...damn I wish I was back there... have fun, you cant help but enjoy it down there.
