    Dunlop Trailmax TR91 Tyres

Ok. Bought these just to be different.

Online images don't do them justice as they have obviously taken an image of the largest size tyre in the range....the threads are way bigger than they look and the blocks smaller so in the TA size I'd say they'd be a pretty good dual option, better than a BT45 but obviously not as blocky as Tourance's for example.

    First thoughts:
Great dry grip, every but as good as the BT45's and that's high praise indeed. Only a wee bit of movement when you initially chuck it in hard but that's to be expected as it does have blocks, large as they are.
Wet grip seems good, I was running them in so didn't push too hard in the wet but so far they're much better than I expected.

Noise level is much quieter than more off road based tyres and not much worse than BT45's. UPDATE - havin done more regular riding, these arent noisy at all, only when you lean over does the brr noise come up, upright I cant hear anything at 70 or at least no more than a BT45.

They run at a lower temperature than the 45's but do seem to heat up quickly so perform from the off. UPDATE - Front heats up way quicker then the BT45 which for me is good. Rear heats up quick even in wet but still feels cooler than BT45 when ridden hard on a hot day...great news.

They do have a shoulder but not a prenounced one, you can just tell as you corner at high speed but it doesn't move of loose confidence. I do run them at Dunlops recommended pressures (42) so this does make the tyre sit up better in the middle.

    UPDATE - Dunlop recommended pressures - Fr 29 / Rr 40.

High speed stability was excellent. This was actually better than the BT45's!! No bar slapping even with topbox at 75 with hands off.
Compound does seem hard going by the fact the prickly bits haven't worn off yet, front or rear.

Wear rate will tell the full storey but if your looking a decent road based tyre that will go off road more than the BT45's then this is your man. A great alternative to the popular BT45 and Conti Attacks.

    Tried wet riding proper now.
    Excellent grip!

Compound isn't too hard judging by the temperature in them, F&R both warm on a wet day.

Great lean angles in them and braking grip is improved on front.

7mm rear and 4mm front is as new so wear rate will be interesting. 3.5k on my clock for archive reference.
