    Wheel Wobble

My 950 developed a really bad wobble. I put this down to a badly worn Pirelli Scorpion Pro. Still plenty of tread but the edges were toast. So fitted a MT21 and the wobble improved a lot....still there a bit, but Im putting the rest down to a new tyre.

Then changed the rear from a well worn Michelin Desert to a new Meffo Stonemaster. And instead of a wobble Ive now got a weave. Not very good at all. Not so bad that it stops me riding but enough to make me post this. The weave is worse 70+. It feels like the back end goes out which then sends a wave of wobble down to the front. And the white line wobble is horrible now.

I did the tyres myself so have not had them balanced. There are still wheel weights on the rims.

    So....

    1) Ignore, the weave should go away when the tyres bed in (how long???)
    2) Remove wheel weights as they will no doubt be in the wrong place.

Im away on the bike for the weekend so no chance of getting them balanced until next week. Just wondered what my options were. Remove wheel weights or leave them be and put up with it. Apart from 40 or 50 miles of motorway later the rest will be trail riding and country roads.

I'm not really suprised that you've got a wobble with a Stonemaster on, that's quite a chunky tyre. My D908 gives a good wobble over 90mph, changing lanes (whitelining) at 80mph makes things 'interseting' but it's all good experience. KTM's are quite sensitve to that sort of thing.

Shouldn't be a problem as you can't do 70mph on a trail anyway

I had a 606 as a front tyre for about 60 miles !.....that was enough.

It will be the tyre Mike. some say they calm down a bit when they are about half worn but they still have a mind of their own.

Take your wheels off again , put the spindle through them and rest it on something so you can spin the wheel. if the balance weight always ends up at the bottom take it off, spin again and see if there is a point that always ends up at the bottom if so put weight back on opposite that point
I put new tyres on my tdr had a wobble /vibration took weight off much improved

    Re: Wheel Wobble

Continued my scary journey North and the weave was terrible. Tried a trail and it scared me to death. Next day ripped all wheel weight off and all was fine. So no weights + 400 miles bedding in and tyres are great.

Stonemaster is a fab tyre. Didnt let my riding down all weekend. And some pretty technical rocky sections as well.
