Pirelli Scorpion ST vs Metzler Tourance

    Hi all
Hopefully someone can help me out here.
Those people at Pirelli have decided to stop making by beloved scorpion ST, so I am stuck what to get next.
I read in an article that the metzler tourance ( not the exp ) have the same rubber compound that the pirelli scorpion st.

Now, I can't find that article, and I have 3.6mm left on my rear, with the best part of 1500 to go to the national, without rideouts, I got to get something soon, before I go.

Can anyone verify what I have read, or got any ideas?

    Hi Rick

The tourance is a great tyre used them for 25000 miles but recently changed over to Anakee2 and has transformed the ride characteristics on my TA.
Cornering is very grippy , wet and dry . Once I got used to the cornering differences makes my bike even more confidence inspiring.
Dont have milages yet as only done 2300 on front , 500 on 2nd rear so far. (I had to replace the rear as ran over something sharp and sliced a cut between the treads.)

Anyways , doesn't help you with the Pirelli Scorpion ST vs Metzler Tourance pros and cons, but thought I would let you know.

    Andy.
I had anakees before, they were great until I got a duff one, which put me right off them.

I didn't like Anakee2s either, they were great till 1/2 worn, then bit scary on wet winter roads, just didn't have a round enough profile to steer sweetly.
Current favourite is the Tourance EXP - which doesn't last as long as the Tourance but I feel safer on in the wet (they're all awfull off road)
    My opinion

This must the first post that I have come across in praise of the Tourance EXP - every other opinion has, without fail, been one of "avoid at ALL costs!".

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

I tried a 130/90 ( Anakee) on the rear, that was awful, if you look at the profile, the 130 is actually flatter than the 120 which would agree with you and a half worn one.

Re the off road, in my very limited experience (Austins adventures mainly), unless you have nobblies, grip is a state of mind, if you are positive and confident you have grip, if you are not then you don't.
