Oh yes get some pics up, hardly ever see them anymore. My mate had one back when I was a 17 year old and I always envied him soooo much.

Not to threadjack but we need some pics. This was mine that I sold a couple months ago. I liked the 23" front tyre and they are still available new. (It was fun to mess with the younger kids at the parts stores though)

She took me all over the desert and never let me down. This shot is at the Sierra Talc Mine on the edge of Death Valley in Southern California, USA.

you sold it? shame looks like a good one, much better than my heap of bits! looks like the same tailpipe as mine has.
Southern California looks like a good bike riding spot. i have been to San Francisco once but went MTB'ing there.

I'm convinced that every '79 - '81 XL250S ever made rusted out its stock muffler. I looked for 5 years and finally gave up and bought a Supertrapp model off FleaBay. It was made for the XR which meant that it eliminated that triangular-shaped muffler thing that sat below the battery. To make it fit I had to carve a bit on the fender as the opening was only about 3 cm wide. I played with the baffle stack and found that 5 gave about the same back pressure as stock, keeping me from needing to re-jet.
Just thought I'd throw out a couple muffler tidbits if any readers are looking at replacing their rusted pipes.

    I'm now the proud owner of a 1981 XL250 S

Not registered in the UK yet so fingers' crossed not too many headaches with DVLA.

What's wrong with the 23in wheel?

(I did warn about asking stupid newbie questions! )
