I need advise

Hi i am just about to buy an xl600v. But as i am not a mechanic i was wondering if there is anything i should look out for?. Any advise would be great.

Mind you, the XL600V is a Transalp with a V-twin, this bit of the forum is for the XL600R which is a single cylinder.

(Could one of the mods move this up a few notches? )

That said, which year is it? I've been told the ones after 1991 are significantly better. (You can recognise this by the colour of the engine. Pre-1991 has a black engine, from 1991 it's blank aluminium coloured.) Then in 1994 there's the face lift, and in 1997 the double disc brake.
