Got one with a siezed engine and rebuilt from there. Rebore, cam and followers, complete crank etc and it's been great.
Starting to look old again now though. Got to put another barrel and piston on as when I did it the first time there were still a couple of marks down the bore (even after taking it out as far as it we'd dare go) and it's got some piston knock now.

hi,considering the lm has the same bore and stroke as the xr 600 and the xr models from 1985-87 have dual carbs.does this mean i can use any cylinder and head parts intended for the 85-87 xr?there seems to be a great range of hop ups for the xr.so getting a genuine answer to this question would be very helpful.regards ian.

I haven't tried any of this although I've been told there were only 2 different barrels.
Hopefully some with more experience can help with this.

I wish I could help with this too. Nice one Bob.

Mel did you go for a road legal or performance silencer from Predator for your LM? I don't want to blast £300 quid and fail the MOT, but I guess it's down to how strict the testing station is.

    Thanks Mel.
I've noticed that as my stock pipe inevitably disintegrates the bike's become more and more responsive and fun to ride (and obviously noisier which isn't always great). Predator quote an extra 5hp for the competition pipe, so that's tempting, but like I say I'd have my lip out at the test station if the bike failed because there wasn't a stamp on it.

    Hi,
Newbie to the forum here, I have an '86 XL600LMF which I am slowly rebuilding, can anyone tell me where I can get the red engine paint from?
    Thanks, Paul
