Re: Another little problem, Oil light?

I'm gonna have to take a pic of mine now.

Same as mine but the lights down the side.
Next question, is it oil pressure or oil warning.
If pressure there'd have to be a sensor/switch on the engine.
If warning I'd guess the only place for a sensor would be the frame tank.

    ???
Gonna go check the wiring diagram now.

Well I must confess catteeclan it looks dude but every time I go looking I get side tracked i can't find an oil switch and this is the first thumper Honda engine of his this type i have owned. Last time I had a bike with one cylinder it was called a gold star.

OIL light is at the top, switch is near the filter ( on the RD01 ),
supprised if its not got a switch, but the clocks look standard ( 8k redline on the big V twin though )

Model is the XLV750R RF RD01
the oil switch is near the filter, note the silver pipe is the feed to the hydraulic tappets
the top light is the oil pressure light in the previous post, suspect the speedo nacels are common to most XLs hence the light, as I said would be very supprised if there were no pressure switch on your engine.

I have removed the air scoop that covers the front pot to aid cooling to the rear, so you can see the filter and switch

Mine's a XL600LM-f and there's no mention of an oil warning light in my workshop manual.
Is it possible you're got a XLV speedo on your bike?
When I got this one I got it as a non runner, yeap the owner ran it out of oil so a warning light wouldn't be a bad idea.
Be good for all the big singles as they all use oil.

The XLV750R tach has the red line at 8000+rpm, think the singles are 7000, so if some one has slotted the XLV clocks on that may be an indication?

my XLV does not use oil, but I would not feel comfortable without an oil pressure light!! rather the light came on when there was an oil problem than the motor exit stage right

Well, it's certainly different from mine (standard XL600R european version). Mine goes to 160 km/h, not 200, and it has four lights on the right but they are turn, neutral and high beam, the one on the bottom is not used.

Bet you're right. Looks the same as the XLV clock to me. Shame coz it'd be nice to have one on my NX.
