Secondhand bits

Got out this morn to fit another tyre to the front of the XL600. Once I got the wheel off I noticed this.




Lucky for me I have a spare wheel and tube as the valve was damaged around the rubber too.
I changed it cuz the oldie had worn in a bit of a strange way.



And so it's now fitted with a secondhand tyre, wheel and tube.

That looks like someone has bodged a hole for a rimlock

That's the only hole in the rim so I think it's rot to blame. It's a tubeless rim but I've been putting tubes in with part worn tyres so I haven't helped.

Honda rims do seem to have a problem rotting from inside out? i have a spare MTX rim that did the same. dont know why i have not thrown it away!
