Throttle Cable, twin carb - access!

OK, so first question, anyone got any tips how to get the pull cable off and on without taking half the bike apart? Not very clear from the this pic but it sits right between the two carbs and I cant see any easy way to get at it! The cable can be seen below the top engine mounting holes, disappearing into the abyss!

There is a kink at the carb end and I want to at least check the inner, if not replace it. Cheers for any ideas....

Just took a few pic's, focus is a bit off, but may give you an idea where to poke your fingers.
    Good luck.

    Hmm, yes, a bitch indeed....

Thanks for the pics airwolf, I can just about see the end of the cable but there is just no way to get fingers in there, looks like the only option is to take off the shock and airbox..... The carb boots are so old and stiff that I think trying to pry the carbs off will damage something.

Give the rubbers a warm with a hair drier. Often helps although I'm not so sure in this weather.

Yep, get the rubber as hot as possible.

Yes a hairdrier is worth a try for the carb boots.

But ....... got the cable off anyway!!!!

RH side panel removed and you can just see the end of the cable. My hand *just* squeezed in enough to hook it off with finger tips, putting back on might prove a challenge!

The inner cable was just starting to fray so definitely worth the hassle.

Here's a pic. The outer is badly kinked as can be seen - no doubt killing the inner.
