hi my starters making a grinding noise it starts ok---ive been told its the sprag--would the starter just be needing a good oil ---

The starter whirs round at quite a speed so you would know if it was that I suspect.

The sprag clutch is at a lower speed due to the reducing gears, it does sound like that could be the problem, ie its slipping or damaged in some way.

If the clutch is dodgy you would probably hear the starter whir before the engine starts turning, otherwise engagement is pretty much instant on a normal one.

No real solution except take it apart and look unfortuantely!
