    Ignition Key Number

Hi anyone know where to find the ignition key number on XLR125RW 2000 reg?

No numbers on the one key I have.

No apparent numbers on the ignition barrel face.

    Any ideas?

Unfortunately the number is on a little tab that comes with the set of keys. Your best bet would be look at WEMOTO for a replacement ignition and key set.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Worth checking with a Honda dealer, it may be on record with honda.

had prob when i lost my car key. the manufacturer had it on record, just had to produce the V5 and proof of ID, they supplied a new key next day.. . . . just had to hope it was still the original ignition barrel.

Ok so the replacement key route seems well and truly closed.

    How about key cutting?

Anyone aware of blanks ,any suggestions for stockists.

    Re: Ignition Key Number

David silver has some spare keys listed for that bike:

    http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/part_40060/

It shows as out of stock but it lists the model number there (assuming it's the correct key and looks right - for the africa twin there's more than one key type indicated by a code stamped on the key so best to check carefully and make sure the recessed area is on the correct side - though they only appear to have one listed for that bike at davidsilvers so might be only one key in your case). It might be worth giving them a bell and see if they're still out of stock or if they can get hold of a blank for you.

After stupidly losing the last blank I bought before I'd got around to having it cut, I eventually spotted a blank honda key for an RC30 or NC30 that someone listed on ebay that had the code number on the photo they posted that matched up with the one I needed from david silvers and won that. From what I can gather with honda each key blank fits a range of different model bikes, so if you can be sure of the key model number you need then you might be able to find a blank listed for other bikes that use the same model number (the RC30 blank was the same model as my africa twin). They pop up on ebay now and again (I found mine by searching for 'honda key blank' then clicking each listing to see the photos) or you may be able to find another online shop selling them by searching on the code number.

If you're not bothered about having a genuine honda key and just want one that fits then your local key cutter might be able to sort you out. When I finally got around to going to get the honda blank cut, at a local timpsons shop (www.timpsons.co.uk) we were told that it was company policy to only cut keys supplied using their own blanks (whether this is true for every shop or they just wanted to sell the key blank too I'm not sure). For £6 they cut a key using their own blank and that seems to work fine and gave a guarantee with it, saying if it didn't work to bring it back. For £6 can't complain as I was expecting it to be that close to that just to have the honda key cut. Timpsons have shops all over the country so if you've got one local to you (you can look them up on that website) they might be worth a try. I was expecting to have a problem getting the right blank for a 1990 imported africa twin (hence searching for a blank first) but it turned out to be no problem for them.

Ah..Just noticed you're in darlington. If you go to this page:

    http://www.timpson.co.uk/highstreet-...ns-results.asp

and type your postcode, there are a few stores close to you. Not sure if they'll have the exact key you need but if there's one close by then might be worth popping in and asking.

    Re: Ignition Key Number

No worries. Glad you got it sorted OK

I felt like kicking myself when they cut mine using one of their blanks (had wasted loads of time trying to find the right blank myself too on more than one occasion and all the time they were right on my doorstep!)

I would have posted in this thread sooner to let you know but I've only just had my key cut too.

    Re: Ignition Key Number

    I like noise.

I have ordered the full predator sports exhaust for the XLR125.

Also have fitted Californian Drag pipes to Yamaha Virago XL750 (Poor mans Harley, but more powerful and more reliable and now just as noisy)
