Advice on XL600R

Hi all,

I have just bought a very tidy XL600 1983 import with 14K Miles. There is no service records with the bike so I want to give it a full service. What should I do in addition to Oil+Filter and are there any particular engine bits I should pay attention to i.e. valve clearances.

The bike runs well apart from a lack of power if you winde the throttle on when crusing at 60mph it stuters and struggles to pull away?????

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello i would check the valves and add a fraction to the outlet to help drag some fuel through, this may help on the spluttering at speed issue.
Also strip the carbs and make all the inners shiny and freemoving,it may be worth spending a few quid on a sonic clean or new jets.
Keep the airfilter in good order and she might run a bit sweeter......

Been looking through the forums and found this post. I am having exactly the same problem with stuttering and stalling at above 100kmph and was wondering if you found a solution...
