short vin number

Hi i have what to appears to be an xl of unknown cc fitted with a cg 125 engine and a dodgy looking vin plate attached! vin number only seven numbers long have v5 in post so can't check doesthis seem right looks like a trailer legalised has no model on the log book only honda 125 any help guys cheers Nick

there is normally a number stamped on right hand side of headstock. it may be covered with coats of paint, a rub with emery cloth will show if its there.
