Seized in engine bolt.

Has anyone else ever had the bottom engine to frame bolt seize up, and if so how have you worked it free?

Ive got the engine out now from a cb250rs by cutting one side of the bottom bracket, and wiggling it out sideways.
But i,m still left with the bolt well seized into the engine casing

I intend to take it to my mates garage and tip the engine on its side in his press, and push it out as you would a car wheel bearing.

The head of the 14mm bolt rounded off after considerable pressure was used so i thought i would weld on a larger nut, thats when i discovered the bolt was cast, and the welder didn't like that much

Why is it the simplist of job's always go pear shape on me !!!

Get the gas torch out and heat it up then beat the bolt in both directions to free it then use a pin punch to drive it out

Re: Seized in engine bolt.

Heat is the best things for stuff that is seized, think i will warm it up first then introduce it to some pressure from the press

Ive got a golf ball size swelling on my hand at the moment, where i hit it with a BFHammer earlier !!

It does not work like that.
Hitting your hand with a hammer will not loosen or remove a seized bolt in your bike engine.

Re: Seized in engine bolt.

Well thanks to a 11 quid propane burner and a new 4 lb sledge hammer, i got the stubborn bolt out today
Took a couple minutes of heating and half a dozen hit's with a decent wacker, but it started to budge and then came out quiete quickly.
Never underestamate the power of heat
