No need to pay VAT or any import duty but they want to inspect it to make sure your not lying.

They'll check the frame number and will want to see a speedo that reads MPH, a Km speedo with stickers is a no no, so just get a push bike one (in fact you only need a receipt to say you have bought one).

    Good luck!

They don't always want to inspect the bike. Neither of mine were inspected. I believe it is a random inspection, so it's luck of the draw really. If you are midway between two offices, go for the more rural one. They are generally less busy, so you won't be tied up all day in a queue and the parking will be easier if you do have to submit the bike for inspection.

Hi Bill. Yes I have an XLR (same as yours) that I will be registering soon and my last 2 (XL200R's) were both done less than a year ago. Dating cert wise I use the West coast guys in Minehead, £20 but no fuss.

    Wot you buildin'?

    Hi Stretchy,

First of all, I no longer have my XLR200. I sold it in the summer to a gorgeous young lady by the name of Caroline down in the South.

My current rebuilds are an XT500 (which is what I sold the XLR200 to buy), plus a Suzuki RV90 Sandbike, plus a cute little Honda SL70. All three are in pieces, which in hindsight isn't a good way to do it, although the motive is good - All plating and similar work gets done at the same time to save money. However, things that can be easily identified when rusty take on a whole new image when plated, so I now have an additional small box of parts which I haven't yet got around to identifying............
