i dunno mate offers
It's totally possible. It just drops in. I got it second hand somewhere... can't remember.
I don't know about the decompressor. I don't remember seeing anything like that.
It was a standard Honda camshaft, nothing special. What surprised me most was that the camshaft had the 'teeth' needed to drive the sprocket for the rev counter, even though the XR has no rev counter.
I've used it for about seven years and never had a problem. I did adjust the carbs by fitting larger jets and fiddling with the needles until the settings were closer to XR specs. I also used XR valve play settings.
Possibly. It will definitely be able to reach higher revs. Mine just kept going past 6000, but I was not eager to make it do much beyond that as I didn't want to damage it.
Hi!
I tried to compare my old broken camshaft and my "new" XR camshaft, and I did find serious differences!! On sunday I read your message here and could not believe it...
Really? That's not my case...I don't what the difference between your bike and my bike is. I know you have a XL600R and mine is a XL600LM, which I tought were different only on the tank, and some other little things. BUT when it came to comparind both camshafts (XR and XL-LM) there were diferences. Take a look at the pictures:
This is my camshaft before it broke:
and this one is the XR camshaft I borrowed. The strange thing between the rightmost cam lobe and the camchain holder is THE DECOMPRESSOR (marked in red):
Well, the main problem is that the distance marked in red in both pictures is not the same. The cam lobes of both camshaft are NOT at the same poditions, so making it nos possible to use the XR camshaft instead of the original one, since the rocker arms and the cam lobes would not match.
Can you believe it? I don't know what the difference between the camshaft you used and the one I borrowed is, but it seems obvious that, or your bike and my bike are different, or the camshaft we used are not the same (XR).
Does anyone know if the XL600LM and the XL600R use different camshafts??
I guess my only option left is to use a real XL camshaft, since it looks the XR's doesn't fit, don't know why. I even doubt the XL600R camshaft will fit my bike...
If anyone has any idea...I'd love to hear anything, any suggestion to get my bike fixed and running again...thanks a lot!!
my xl600 has a decompresoin lever too so will it be any good to you?
Yes! Mine DOES have a decompressor lever also. The only problem could be that the camshaft has different dimensions. Maybe the distances between cam lobes are different...but that has an easy solution, you could measure some things before sending it to me, and that's all.
So yes, I think your camshaft will be useful, we just need to measure it before sending, ok?
We'll talk about it when the moment comes!
According to the pictures in my parts book the cams are different between the "old" engine and the Later RFVC engine, it lists the same cam for all the XL's with the RFVC engine so the cam mad4it028 has will be the same as yours
The XR cam you have looks like its from the earlier engine!
