Sorry to be a pain but!!

Having brought a xl600lmf basket case (good idea at the time blah blah), got most of the wiring sorted (thanks again for the diargram Stubbow) not getting a spark, no volts on poss side of coil untill start button pressed, then only getting 2 or 3 volts. Dont know how to check cdi but have checked pick up and getting 477 ohms, the tolerance for this is 360 - 440 (thats acording to a haynes manual for the xl 600r, any one know if these are the same???

Re: Sorry to be a pain but!!

Specs for the LMF are 460-580 ohms.
In troubleshooting section states
NO SPARK
1 Engine stop switch off
2 poor connection broken shorted wire
-between alternator and coil
-between cdi and engine stop switch
-between cdi and coil
-between coil and plug
-between pulse generator and cdi
3 faulty main switch
4 faulty coil
5 faulty cdi
6 faulty alternator
7 faulty pulse generator.
I would also check the earth on the coil mounting bracket, i have been caught out with a bad earth before after painting a frame also check the earth on the kill switch.
The test for the CDI requires a special test unit.
