Newbie with an XL 500 RC

Hi there, I am new to this forum but not to restoring bikes as I have a 1981 RD350LC Yamaha.
I am now the proud owner of an XL500RC but am going to pull the engine apart as it rattles like mad !!!!
Who do you people advise for gaskets etc and do they have to be genuine Honda or are the pattern parts OK ?
    Thanks in advance, Kev.

    First with the greetings:

Hello and welcome to the forum.
As for parts Try DAVID SILVERS
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

You could also try Wemoto for pattern parts.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Genuine is best but not always available.
I have used gaskets from wemoto in the past and they have been OK
