    Calling Bill Badger and Hondaxrnut........!

    Hi Chaps.

I don't seem to be able to PM anyone on here or reply to any visitor messages.

OK, Bill I've managed to get myself an XLR200 (at last) and is in a bit of a state to say the least. The wiring is very different to my XL200r's and has been hacked to death! Do you have any wiring diagrams?
The front resevoir is missing and I need a photo of it so I can match up another, I'm sure there pretty much all the same as my XR400 one looks like it will fit but is rather larger than ness!
I also need to know the layout of the chassis number as mine is obscured (yes it was stolen) I have proof of the number from a document from the original importer but just quotes numbers with no MDxx prefix.

Your help would be much appreciated!

Mr XRnut, thanks for the message, alas I was unable to reply and was actually away this weekend picking up the aformentioned bike!

    We must meet up!

hi stretchy, the trail bike day is next saturday 27th at ubley.
my frame no was not recognised by a honda dealer, but the engine no is md06#####.
the xlr and xl200r are different bikes, i think the xlr is closer to the later xr's from the usa, what year xlr is it?
you should be able to use a lot from the proper imported xlr125's.

Re: Calling Bill Badger and Hondaxrnut........!

Thanks, I'll try and make it over probably on the 400 as my XL200R has a top end tinkle and I'm thinking 'Cam' but have another engine that is smokey so just hoping it's the bottom end and not the valves so I can just do a top swap.

OK I've contacted the dealer who originally sold the bike as my paperwork only had the last 6 digits and now have the frame number MD22xxx engine is MD29xxx. I contacted DVLA as although the bike had previosly been stolen (I got it from the owner) I believed it had never been road registered and needed to know if I had enough proof/documentation to do that and they said yes but it was already road registered!

Result! (hopefully) I'm sure that the previous owner said it wasn't registered or maybe that was when he bought it?

OK the reg starts with H and ends with W so not sure of the year but poss 2000? The bike (to most folk) looks a wreck but only needs a rear fender (any idea which ones fit?) front break res assy (XL125 etc), some lights and the loom tidying up, may even fit a keyed ignition but not really ness for my off-road application; it will however be road legal with a full MOT.

Do prefer the look of my 'Older' XL's but the XLR has alloys and a few other nicities.

    Thanks

    JB.

Re: Calling Bill Badger and Hondaxrnut........!

    Hi Stretchy,

Love to help out but......... I've sold my bike.........!

What I can say is that I never had a problem with my XLR200, but whilst trying to find things out about the origins of the model, I came to the conclusion that a good deal of the mechanical parts are similar to those used on the XLR125. I don't think you will go wrong by getting a master cylinder from an XLR125.

I never had to touch the wiring other than cleaning up the connection once on the high beam bulb contact.

I can tell you that Talon are excellent for sprockets, and the fitting on the front sprocket is similar to the CRF125.

I sold my bike in order to relive my youth and buy an XT500. The bike I've bought, although seen complete in a recent photo, is a basket case, but supplied with a vast amount of new parts. It's a daunting task, and I must confess to edging towards a good XT600 or two before buying the XT500. However, as my wife said on numerous occasions, 'go for the XT500 because that's what you really want'.......

Stretchy, l'll be pleased to help with any information on your bike. Just let me know.
