    Re: Poor starting when hot

I can now report that its getting easier to start due to getting the technique right, and a nicely adjusted auto de-comp cable, which took some fiddeling to get right, but can be a sod if you dont catch it right sometimes when warm, and it did help when the plug cap was screwed in properly.
As im running in a new piston and rings it is definately getting better with use and pulls like a train......roll on summer

Have you checked the float height. A high fuel level in the float chamber is a common cause of difficult starting when hot it was what cured the xr's difficult starting when it was hot only 1mm out as well made all the difference

Honestly mine isn't all that bad. I can always get it running even if it may take me a little while sometimes.
    Maybe I'm WonderWoman or something...

    Re: Poor starting when hot

I have thoughts of fitting electric start, due to
the kickstart missed the ratchet and buggerd my knee up.
Its mostly technique now as its getting easier to start, just got to show it whos boss.
I will look into the float height with looking into up jetting for a richer mixture.
I always wanted the LMF,maybe when im in a better position financially

    Re: Poor starting when hot

    It is indeed mostly technique.

Here's what I do: press the manual decompressor, open the throttle all the way, give it a few kicks to flush the cylinder with air and dry off the spark plug if needed.
Let go of the decompressor, use the kickstarter to find the compression, use decompressor to put it juuuuust a little further than that.
Let the kickstarter come all the way up, open the throttle about a hair's width, and give one good, decent kick, all the way down.

Usually does the trick. And I'm female, 60 kilos and fairly short. So it's not a matter of being strong or heavy.
