Hi all, just wandering how people have got on (ease of job, source and cost of replacement and effect on handling) with changing their fuel tanks.
I'm the proud new owner of an 84 XL600R, and when I get her upto speed with MoT etc I hope to go a gentle wandering, but the tank is a Lot smaller than I'm used to and wandered about mods.

I fitted a bigger tank to my XR400R...made by IMS I bought it from Race-Spec a few years ago. Have a look see on the www.enduronews.co.uk site for one for sale.
They say I talk too much.
I have a steel tank from an earlier model XL500PD on mine. My boyfriend has a plastic Acerbis tank on his. Both are close to 20 liters which is a whole lot better than the original 11 liters!
The Acerbis tank is plug & play,the steel tank needed some adjustments.
In either case, the effects on handling are small and totally worth it.
