    Marving exhaust XL600RM

Anyone fitted a Marving tailpipe to an XL600RM or LM. If so, any feedback please?

    Re: Marving exhaust XL600RM

Hello Dessert Storm old bean,One of the lads from our trip ( xllentadventures.co.uk )fitted one. Easy fitment but I personally don't like the look or sound at all. I need a replacement end can myself, got stainless headers from germany but have had a great idea in mind if yourself and some others would be interested..?? I have a gent who is a top fabber/welder who can make an exact replacement of the standard end can in stainless steel but to make it worth his while and our’s he suggested doing a batch of say between 6 to 10 to keep the cost down. I suppose the making of a jigg is in order etc etc...
Would anyone else reading this be interested..?? To kick off there is four potential LMF’s that would be up for it. Anyone have any feedback on fitment regarding all the various 600 model’s with regard to the notion of having a batch made up..??

    Hi Mez

I had a look on your site, and saw that one of you had fitted a Marving so thanks for that feedback. I bought a brand new Marving for an XL600R a couple of years ago from ebay Italy with my 600RM rebuild in mind. Not a great decision, as I offered it up for the first time yesterday and it doesn't fit! The larger battery box on my RM (and presumably LMs too) compared to the R is in the way. It is the long tapered piece of the tailpipe that contacts the battery box, so this would make any modding or cutting and shutting very difficult. The link pipe diameter also appears to be smaller on the R than the RM. So I've decided to cut my losses, sell the R tailpipe and adopt plan B once I've decided what plan B is.

I'm currently thinking about having a link pipe made up and then fitting one of the many nearly-new sportsbike tailpipes that sell fairly cheaply on ebay as owners upgrade to Akras or similar. But I'd be very interested to see the price for the group-buy stainless pipe you're looking into.

    Cheers

    Alan

Hi Alun, thanks for taking time to reply. It’s getting the word out to all potential bods that would also be interested in participating.. Hopefully your not in a rush like me. I’m loving my LMF at the mo and it’s become a most definite keeper hence I’m not too concerned about splashing out on a nice retro fit stainless jobbie...!!
Will keep you posted and try to raise more awareness.

You running a Marving Mez or the original? I need two silencers but the only one I fancy is the Predator and they're a bit pricey.

I would indeed, would need some idea of cost though. What about BS stamps etc?

This guy got one made by Quill at Warrington, says it cost about £600 for the whole system:

Thats a truly mint bike there, very impressive..!! It wouldn't be anywhere near £600.00 but then it would only be the silencer, we/I have stainless headers already so only require a decent end can. Let me know, how much of a rush are you in..??

No rush just now, just snuck through the MOT this morning with the help of some exhaust putty. It could all disintegrate at any time though!

After much trawling for an alternative your idea sounds like the solution, none of the others that are available exit the side panel at the same angle as the original.

Where did you get the stainless headers? It would be a good plan to all be on the same front pipe so everything would line up.
