good evening friends,just working my way through a restoration of my 85 xr 600 and im just welding up holes in footpegs and brackets to re drill to original hole diameter to stop them wobbling in worn oval holes(get to the point mark)anyway the spring is missing which keeps the peg down but i cannot work out how it fits.on my dakar xl 6oo the peg bolt hole end is narrower than the bracket allowing for a spring to slot in between peg and bracket.,but on my xr the footpeg end slots tightly into the bracket leaving no room for a spring.hmmm...can someone have a look at a similar year xr for me and tell me where the spring fits,i presume it fastens on the outside ofthe peg somewhere,cheers chaps and chapesses.
