Thereīs a kit to put an electric start on the watercooled XR650R though, itīs supposed to be expensive.

Very very tall seat, as mentioned Dominator engine in an XR600 frame. Dig out your old TBMs, they did a road test very early on.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

    Re: XR650

just been reading some tests on the web, looks like the seat height may mean this bike is a no go for me . They mentioned that even six footers may struggle.

well done Barrie, nice to get info from someone that's actually owned one. The report was on an American site, different model perhaps ?

    Unhappy Re: XR650

no my one was a yank import
yes seat is tall but rear suspention sits down quit a bit when you fling your leg over
only got rid of it because local police were giving me hassle and it was going to cost around Ģ1000 to make it road leagal which i could not aford at the time
i had the XR650R the XR650L is road leagal and slightly cheeper new according to the honda american site
the XR650L is the one i would go for in the future a bit heavier around 20kg and about 10hp less
but no hassle and electric start xr650r is kick start only and can be a sod to start beleve me
iv had to give up going out as the bugger would not start before i was knakerd kicking it over and gave up for the day
