    What about it then?

Read some interesting stuff on adv about the 600 being a 'nicer' bike than the 650; mainly in terms of real world useability I think.

Understand the 600 was air-cooled while the later 650s are watercooled. Does the air-cooling make for a simpler more bombproof bike?

    Anyone owned both??

    Cheers

    Had a '91 XR600.
It was a pig to start from cold but you could start it by hand when hot.
3rd gear went (a well-known trouble spot) - you could tell as it drove fine but made a whining noise in that gear. So I had to rebuild the whole motor.
Then one of the screws securing the butterfly in the carb went into the cylinder................

I think I was just unlucky but found it impracticle.
