Rear indicator fittings

Afraid I'm still living up to my user name!

Can anyone help me work out the fittings for rear indicators. Looking at photos of other bikes on the web the rear indicators seem to be positioned partway down the tail piece below the rear light. This corresponds with the holes at the end of the subframe and also in the undertray part of the numberplate hanger. However, to get to these on my bike I would need to drill through the tail piece, but also there is a fair gap between the plastic and subframe which suggests that I could not fit the indicators here without deforming the plastic.

At the moment i have fitted mine into the number plate hanger, but this puts the right indicator in front of the exhaust which doesnt feel like a great plan.

Any comments and/or photos would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry mate, I just googled an xr400 and I don't think it is anything like an @ RD03 so good luck with it.

The indicators have a U shaped metal braket to clear the bodywork ... If I can figure out how to post photos I will take a pic of one (I have just picked up an 03 XR400 so it is all abit new to me too ...)

Thanks Boycie - that would be great. I will give XRstuff a ring and see if they can get the brackets.

It is going in for its MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed. For now I have taken the indicators off since the garage recon that should still be ok (another inspector previously told me indicators were essential for bikes registered after a certain date). I did have them wired in, but I think there is an earthing issue since the tail light was flashing as well as the indicators?!!!! However I would like to sort this out since the XR4 will get some road use.
