XR400 headlight question

I have just bought a XR400.... so have to sort the inevitable niggles.

The headlight is pointing skywards - but I'm fairly confident of getting it pointing in the right direction.

My question is ... there is a hole in the reflector (about the size of a 5p - perfectly round) ... it looks like it is for a "side light" but this bike doesn't have side lights -the headlight is on all the time.... can only choose between high/low beam

Is there normally a bung/ plug / thing in there? ...

I have noticed the head light is quite mucky so this is probably the reason

I Think the head light as been used on other Honda's ,some of which have a side light.
The light on my XR4 also has the hole but it has a bung in it,I would give the head light a clean and stick some duck tape over the hole.

Thanks, I suppose that would explain it ... if I have the headlight off I might pop down to Halfords or somewhere like that to get a grommet type thing to fill the hole ...

I imagine it's going to be a bitch to clean

My headlight had a side light fitted in this hole with the option (via a switch on the left bar) to have either headlight or sidelight. Its sufficently dim that in all honesty it is probably only useful for riding in a wartime blackout!!!!
